ABOUT OUR PASTOR

Pastor Billy G. Jenkins Jr. was born on November 17, 1971 Louisville, Kentucky to Billy G. Jenkins Sr. and Julia Mae Jenkins (deceased).

Pastor Jenkins was licensed to preach the Gospel on May 24, 1998. On September 24, 2000 Pastor Jenkins was ordained to the Gospel Ministry at Bethel Baptist Church where he served as minister of Christian Education for a number of years.

Pastor Jenkins began serving as pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Shepherdsville, Kentucky on July 1, 2005. Since being called to Mt. Zion, Pastor Jenkins has sought to put emphasis on ministering holistically to God’s people through Evangelizing the unsaved for Christ, Equipping believers for Christian living and discipleship, Engaging in Christian fellowship and service and Exalting the Savior through prayer, praise and the proclamation of the Gospel.

Under Pastor Jenkins’ leadership the Lord has blessed Mt. Zion to liquidate its church mortgage, develop its first set of By-laws and Articles of Incorporation, purchase property, make building improvements, mobilize members for ministry, and baptize many new converts. There has been much growth among the people and the Word is being spread throughout the community.

Pastor Jenkins graduated from University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s Degree in Justice Administration (1995) and Master’s Degree in Social Work (1999). In 2000 Pastor Jenkins was awarded the Whitney M. Young Jr. Award by University of Louisville for his commitment to social justice. In November 2019, Pastor Jenkins received his Masters of Arts in Theology from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary. In addition, he has served as a Field Education Supervisor for the University of Louisville and Spaulding University Bachelor level and Master’s level Social Work Students. Pastor Jenkins has the distinct honor of receiving the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, which is that of Kentucky Colonel (1996).

Pastor Jenkins has been happily married to Angela Jenkins since June 19, 1993 and they are parents of three adult children and are proud grandparents of six grandchildren.
